As Southeast Asian consumers’ attention to oral health continues to rise, the electric toothbrush market is experiencing rapid growth. Singapore, an important economic hub in the region, sees particularly high demand for high-quality electric toothbrushes. However, standing out in this fiercely competitive market has become a challenge for every brand. Against this backdrop, our team was entrusted by a Singapore-based client to design and develop a high-performance electric toothbrush.
In response to the client’s market challenges and product requirements, our team formulated the following solutions:
Design: We integrated Southeast Asian cultural characteristics and aesthetic preferences into a sleek and stylish electric toothbrush design. The product’s exterior features a streamlined design with a refreshing color palette that both appeals to local consumers’ taste and highlights the product’s uniqueness.
Waterproofing and Dust Resistance: To fulfill the client’s need for waterproofing and dust resistance, we employed IPX7 waterproof design and special dust-resistant materials, ensuring the product’s stable performance in various usage environments.
Mechanical Structure Design: We optimized the product’s mechanical structure to achieve a high vibration frequency while minimizing noise and vibrations, enhancing the user’s experience. Additionally, we provided detailed requirements and guidance for mold development to ensure production quality and cost control.
At the initial stage, we conducted in-depth discussions with the client to clarify the product’s exterior design and functional requirements. Our design team then embarked on the industrial design process, iterating and refining the design until a final scheme was agreed upon for manufacturing.
Structure Design: Following the approval of the industrial design, our engineers initiated the mechanical structure design. They designed a reasonable mechanical structure based on functional needs and usage scenarios, fine-tuning it for optimal performance. Detailed requirements and guidance for mold development were also provided.
Concurrently with mechanical structure design, our hardware development team commenced work on selecting suitable electronic components, designing circuit boards, and writing hardware drivers. Through continuous testing and optimization, the hardware’s stability and reliability were assured.
While hardware development progressed, our firmware team developed the firmware program that controls the toothbrush’s operation. Integration testing with the hardware followed, and continuous debugging and refinement ensured the firmware’s stability and reliability.
Prototype Manufacturing and Testing: After hardware and firmware development, we manufactured a product prototype and conducted rigorous testing and verification. This included visual inspections, waterproofing and dust resistance tests, vibration and noise testing, among others. Issues identified through testing were addressed accordingly.
